RYA Day Skipper and Competent Crew
There are a limited number of places on each course (shown in brackets above) and students must have the requisite joining experience to attend as potential Day Skippers and Yachtmaster.
Those applying to undergo Competent Crew (CC) training do not need any prior sailing experience as the course content is designed as an intro to offshore sailing for complete novices.
Day Skipper candidates must have a minimum of a 5 Day offshore sailing and over 100nm of logged experience. They should have attended the Day Skipper Theory Course or completed it online.
These courses will be planned and authorised as Adventurous Training so costs to individuals will be kept to an absolute minimum. When costs are confirmed details will be promulgated to applicants.
Regimental Second in Commands and Regimental Sailing Officers are asked to identify suitable volunteers and support them in applying and attending the courses. Regiments are asked to advertise these opportunities on Regimental and Sub Unit Orders to get the word out.
The courses are aimed at achieving The Royal Yachting Association's certificates which are recognised Adv Trg qualifications. All training will take place in the Solent and will be onboard 'Bombardier' a 34 foot Halberg Rassy sailing yacht.

Full rank name and unit. Which course type / dates required and indicating any prior relevant sailing experience.
