Before making any advanced bookings, Members need to be aware of four important points:
1. Based on the latest RYA / Government guidance, skippers for private bookings are now allowed to manage their own risk in-relation to Covid 19, with a maximum crew of nine for St Barbara V and six for Bombardier 3. However, as a leading sail training organisation, we expect all our members to exercise a high level of diligence and discipline in the Covid era. Factors that skippers should consider when planning their crews should include: a) vaccination status of each crew member; b) vulnerabilities of individuals; c) risk background i.e. where have the crew been prior to sailings, and where are they going afterwards. In addition, for all bookings in 2021, crews should still follow COVID Boat Cleaning Rules and SOPs. Note - for Adventurous Training, Skippers must follow the Army's Force Health Protection Instruction that limits St Barbara V to a crew of six.
2. When booking a boat, members / skippers need to fully understand and accept the latest Boat Bookings Terms and Conditions. This includes an acceptance of a liability for booking cancellations (para 9) and a significant increase in the skipper's damage liability (see para 18-19).
3. Members are reminded that they cannot make more than two advanced summer bookings (1st April - 30th September) for a maximum of 2 weekends, or no more than 14 days in total (see Terms para 6 for more details). And for insurance purposes, they must also complete an online crew list prior to departure.
4. When making a booking, members / skippers need to fully understand the skipper and crew qualifications that are required for different passage plans and different weather conditions. Full details are outlined in para 21 of the Terms and Conditions. The skipper / booking member will be FULLY LIABLE for any damage or loss incurred if the boat is being used outside the scope of these rules.
The terms and conditions on this website take full precedent over past terms and conditions, or information that may appear in the RAYC Year Book.
If you have any questions, please email the Boat Booking Secretary.
